ISTRO has identified eight specific areas, called ISTRO interest areas, in which members may identify themselves.

These interest areas include:

• Soil Physics,
• Soil and Water Management,
• Soil Chemistry,
• Environmental Quality,
• Soil Biology and Biochemistry,
• Tillage Implements,
• Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition,
• Crop Protection
